ALOHA FROM HAWAII !

Away from the cold wintry conditions recently experienced in Sydney saw the White Family do a clean sweep of the recent Hawaiian Islands tour. Denis White (Concord - Hcp 11) held off a strong challenge from the improving Rowan Gietz (Roseville - Hcp 13) to win the Mens Division. The Ladies Division was won by Margaret White (Concord - Hcp 29) who tussled with Joyce Williamson (Concord - Hcp 12) most of the way. The final few rounds however saw Margaret draw clear to a comfortable win.

30th Australian International Seniors Golf Championship - UPDATE

The Final Round of the Championships at the RACV Royal Pines Resort was contested in perfect conditions on the Green / Gold course with pin positions exactly the same as the final round of the recent Ladies Masters.

Phil Constable from Mt Macedon (Hcp 6) shot a great 2 under par in the first round to take a commanding lead going into the final round. Jim Cordery from Southern Golf Club (Hcp 6) triailing by 8 shots made every effort to close the gap (including a career 2nd Hole In One on the Par 3 - 5th Hole !) by shooting a final round 1 over par 73. It was to no avail as Phil carded a 3 over par 75 to take the Championship Stoke by 6 shots. Former AISGC Champion Ian MacDonald from Muirfield Golf Club was a further 8 shots back in third place.

The Mens Handicap division was very close with three players tied on 79 stableford points going into the final round. Father Seamus McMahon from Woodford Golf Club was re-hadicapped for the final round by 2 shots. Irrespective, it did not prevent him from carding a final score of 40 Stableford points. Tom Duley off a handicap of 11 from Bonnie Doon finished with a terrific 42 points finishing just 1 stableford point shy of the Handicap Championship.

Dianne Wolfe from Wodonga Golf Club (Hcp 4) romped home with a final score of 79 the best of the day to win the Ladies Stroke Championship by a record 20 shots.

Kim Poland from Fox Hills carded an amazing 46 stableford points on Wednesday to take the lead early in the Ladies Stableford Championship hotly pursued by Alice Cran-Crombie from Kareela Golf Club. Unfortunately, Kim did not play her best golf on Friday (the final round). Alice Cran-Crombie started her round very strongly with 20 points on the front nine and ironically was paired in the cart with Kim Poland on the last day. Alice's final round of 35 points was good enough to take the Ladies Stableford Championship by 5 shots from the very consistent Jennifer Hadley from Concord Golf Club.

MORNINGTON PENINSULA

Winners - Malcolm Pattrick & Barbara Kelly

A great week of fine weather, slight winds and terrific golf courses greeted those fortunate to attend the Mornington Peninsula Tour recently.

Both the Mens Section and Ladies Section were hotly contested with the winners only being decided on the final day at the Moonah Links Legends Course.

Mal Pattrick (Hcp 26) from Concord Golf Club who hadn't played well for a while, found some of his previous winning form at The Dunes on the fourth day where he had 44 points.  A further 42 points (off a reduced handicap of 23) at The Legends Moonah Course on the final day saw him get up and win from Keith Van Klink (Hcp 19) from Ryde Parramatta by three shots.

Barbara Kelly (Hcp 16 reduced to 15) from NSW Golf Club held off a strong challenge from Judy Stuart (Hcp 25) from Concord Golf Club. Finishing with 33 points at The Legends Judy was only just one point shy of catching Barbara on the final day.
