SOUTH AUSTRALIA - November 2017

Adelaide provides a great variety of golf courses from the wonderful layouts at Kooyonga and Glenelg to the historical Royal Adelaide course with its holes dissected by the Railway Line and the driveway that runs across the 18th Fairway. What was particularly noticeable was the great condition all the courses were in. The Links at Lady Bay was in terrific condition and what particulalry stood out was that all the paths on the fairways and around the tees and green had been surfaced. It made a huge difference to the golfing experience - previously spoilt by the plumes of dust that used to billow as one played.

Both the Mens and Ladies competition really became decided after 2 or 3 rounds. Geoff Hodge (Hcp 17 - 20) from Sanctuary Cove started off with scores of 37, 35, 41, 26, 41 to pull well clear of the other men in the comepetition - leading by 9 points going into the final round and maitaining that margin to beat this year's Sunshne Coast winner - Zel Diamant (Hcp 23 - 26) from Russell Vale. it was a very impressive consistent perfomance with his only poor score of 26 coming on the wet weather day at The Grange East

The Ladies was a similar scenario with Gail White (Hcp 32 - 36) from Castle HIll having opening rounds of 38 and 41 - enough to take a clear lead after only 2 rounds. Gail also went into the final round with a 9 shot lead and was able to maintain that margin and comfortably take out the Ladies Event
